We invite applications for the role of Professor, Associate Professor, or Tenure-Track Assistant Professor with a focus on Pre-modern Chinese History at the School of Chinese and the Hong Kong Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences.

The ideal candidate will possess a robust Ph.D. in Pre-modern Chinese History or related disciplines, with a particular emphasis on pre-Tang China. Familiarity with Digital Humanities and quantitative historical methodologies is highly desirable. A proven track record in teaching and research excellence in the field of pre-modern Chinese history is essential.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering high-quality instruction at the undergraduate level.
  • Supervising postgraduate students.
  • Engaging in collaborative research initiatives.

We offer a competitive remuneration package commensurate with qualifications and experience, which includes contract-end gratuity and a University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme equivalent to 15% of the basic salary for fixed-term appointments. Additional benefits include annual leave, professional leave, medical coverage, and complimentary access to on-campus facilities such as gyms and libraries. Housing benefits may also be available.
