The Eindhoven University of Technology is seeking a dedicated postdoctoral researcher to engage in the development of cutting-edge design methodologies for large-scale hydrogen integration within diverse power grid configurations and conversion technologies. This research initiative aims to enhance energy efficiency while reducing operational costs.
Project Focus
This postdoctoral project will emphasize the hardware design of novel DC power electronics, targeting significant weight reduction without compromising efficiency. The research will also delve into the interactions between power electronics and electrolyzers, proposing innovative control strategies to mitigate the degradation of electrolyzers due to variable operational conditions.
The overarching goal is to engineer efficient power electronics converters tailored for extensive offshore wind farm applications. Key areas of exploration include:
- Analysis of various DC converter architectures and control strategies for hydrogen production from offshore wind energy.
- Development of advanced topologies and optimal control mechanisms for high-power medium voltage DC/DC converters to enhance the longevity of electrolyzers.
- Integration and empirical testing of the power converter with 25 kW high-pressure electrolyzer stacks.
Candidate Profile
- Ph.D. in power electronics or a related discipline.
- Proven ability to conduct high-caliber academic research, evidenced by a relevant doctoral thesis and/or publications.
- Substantial experience in the design and implementation of high-power power electronics converters.
- A forward-thinking mindset with a strong ambition to advance power electronics technologies for hydrogen applications.
- Proficient in English, with excellent communication and leadership capabilities.
- A collaborative team player, adept at working in a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment.
Employment Conditions
