Key Responsibilities and Expectations

As an intern at Damen Shipyards, you will be engaged in various aspects of naval ship and system concepts across multiple phases of design and development. Your responsibilities may include:

  • Developing new naval ships or innovating existing ones to meet emerging naval needs.
  • Designing and developing naval ship (sub)systems, such as Mission Deck equipment or smart integration solution concepts.
  • Utilizing advanced analysis methods and design tools to achieve research objectives.
  • Taking ownership of project planning and execution from day one.
  • Delivering in-depth analyses of research problems and identifying innovative solutions.
  • Effectively communicating results and conclusions to other departments, contributing to a collaborative environment.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you should possess:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in high-level programming languages and good practices in database design.
  • Experience with 2D CAD and 3D modeling (Rhino).
  • Passion for ships or shipbuilding.
  • Ability to identify and communicate with multiple stakeholders.
  • Independence, analytical thinking, and proactivity.
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written.

This internship offers a monthly allowance for the duration of the assignment, proper mentoring at BSc or MSc level, and opportunities to test and enhance your professional and social skills. Additionally, we estimate the salary for this role to be around €600-€800 per month, depending on qualifications and experience.
