The Advanced Research Center for Nanolithography (ARCNL), in collaboration with the Faculties of Science at the University of Amsterdam and the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, is pleased to announce the availability of three prestigious fellowships aimed at female researchers. These fellowships are designed for individuals who align well with the ARCNL research agenda and possess the ambition to secure a leadership role as a professor within either institution.
About ARCNL
ARCNL represents a pioneering public-private partnership that includes Dutch universities and ASML, a leader in the semiconductor industry. As a national research center under the Dutch Research Council (NWO), ARCNL specializes in fundamental research in physics and chemistry related to (nano)lithography technologies. The center comprises three departments: Materials, (EUV) Source, and Metrology, employing a diverse team of researchers.
Role Responsibilities
As a group leader at ARCNL, you will:
- Develop and lead a cutting-edge research program that addresses the long-term challenges faced by ASML.
- Foster and maintain collaborative relationships with ASML Research.
- Engage actively with other research teams within ARCNL.
- Oversee your group members and manage projects effectively.
- Handle budgeting, planning, and ensure the quality of group projects.
- Publish findings in leading international journals.
- Present research at conferences and institutions both domestically and internationally.
- Build and sustain external relationships on a national and international scale.
- Secure funding from national and international sources.
- Contribute to the academic community at the Faculty of Science of either the University of Amsterdam or the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
- Participate in the teaching programs of the respective universities.
Candidate Profile
We encourage applications from candidates who possess the following qualifications:
- A PhD in physics, chemistry, or materials science.
- A proven track record in atomic, molecular, plasma, or instrumental physics.
- A commitment to university-level teaching and demonstrated teaching abilities.
- Experience in supervising BSc, MSc, and/or PhD students is preferred.
- Proven ability to attract external funding.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in English, with a willingness to learn Dutch.
- Experience in collaborative projects between industry and academia is advantageous.
What We Offer
The starting salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications, with potential for appointments at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor levels. The compensation package includes a holiday allowance and an end-of-year bonus, along with a favorable tax agreement for eligible non-Dutch applicants. Additionally, we provide an extensive support package, including start-up funds, budget for junior researchers, and access to state-of-the-art facilities.
