About the Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity available for an interim Head of Legal Benelux to support our various business teams in the Benelux region. This role will report to the General Counsel of Continental Europe and will be responsible for providing commercially-minded and pragmatic legal advice to support the business in achieving its goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice to the business teams in the Benelux region, addressing legal issues on a day-to-day and strategic basis.
  • Support the General Counsel of Continental Europe and the local leadership team in making strategic decisions.
  • Advise on overall strategic basis as a member of the local leadership team.
  • Provide practical, innovative, and high-quality legal advice in relation to contracts, general commercial law, intellectual property rights, corporate governance, competition law, data protection, media and advertising law, regulatory/compliance risk analysis, and ESG matters.

Requirements

  • Qualified Dutch Lawyer (non-bar admitted) with 5-8 years of demonstrated experience in the food or other FMCG industry.
  • Available from September onwards for a period of 6 months.
  • Strong proficiency in both Dutch and English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Confident in handling a broad range of legal matters where both legal expertise and commercial pragmatism will be invaluable.
  • Excellent work management skills and legal judgment with the capacity to make decisions and give advice that reflects an understanding of overall business objectives and the risks/rewards of each situation.
  • Strong research and drafting skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a non-legal audience, both orally and in writing.
  • Proactive self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal direction and a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment that requires management of multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to deliver quality, commercial solutions under pressure, balancing multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Curiosity about cross-functional working, being able to build relationships and influence across all levels within the organization.
