Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled PhD candidate and junior system administrator to join our team in the field of software optimization and compiler techniques. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting original research, publishing scientific work, and pursuing a PhD thesis. Additionally, they will assist the system administrator in managing the research infrastructure, including tasks such as data stewardship, Linux system maintenance, and network configuration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct original research in software optimization and compiler techniques
  • Publish scientific work in peer-reviewed conference proceedings and journals
  • Pursue and complete a PhD thesis within the appointed duration of six years
  • Assist the system administrator in managing the research infrastructure
Requirements
  • Recently completed (or soon to be completed) MSc degree in Computer Science with specialization in Parallel and Distributed Computing, High Performance Computing, or Computer Systems
  • Strong performance in computer systems courses
  • Inherent interest in solving complex scientific problems and translating abstract thoughts into concrete implementations
  • Passionate about working with other researchers, system administrators, and students
  • Excellent programming and debugging skills in C++ and Python
  • At least three years of experience in Linux and basic Linux system administration
  • Good understanding of computer networking: TCP/IP, VLANs, and routing
What We Offer
  • Full-time position for initially one year
  • Salary ranges from € 2.770,- to € 3.539,- gross per month
