Metrology Internship in Mechanical Engineering
2 maanden geleden
Background Overview
The Sensors Mechanics group, a vital part of the Mechanical Development cluster, specializes in designing optical sensor systems, including wafer height measurement systems and various image sensors. These image sensors, positioned atop the wafer stage, play a crucial role in measuring parameters such as the focal plane position of the projection lens, light energy, optical aberrations, and the stage's position relative to a reference point. A common feature of these sensors is the glass plate embedded with optical markers, which is affixed using a two-component epoxy within the sensor housing. The stability of this adhesive connection is paramount, as any deviation can compromise the quality of our customer's integrated circuits. A significant challenge to this stability is the outgassing that occurs when the adhesive is subjected to the vacuum environment of our scanners. Given the limited in-scanner testing time, there is a pressing need for an offline platform to evaluate potential enhancements.
Your Responsibilities
Your primary task will be to establish and execute experiments aimed at investigating and enhancing the drift associated with critical adhesive connections. You will have access to various setups at ASML and other locations, and it will be your responsibility to identify suitable options and maximize their potential. Key considerations will include the accuracy of the instruments, selection of appropriate samples, and ensuring a stable support structure. Additionally, you will need to analyze the results and present them effectively. Understanding the sub-nanometer drift you are studying is essential for accurate interpretation of the data and for defining the requirements for the experimental setup. You are encouraged to propose ideas for improving the stability of the adhesive connection, and if time permits, you may have the opportunity to develop prototypes to demonstrate the feasibility and performance of your concepts.
Your Profile
To qualify for this internship, you should be:
- A Master's student in mechanical engineering, physics, or a related field.
- A self-motivated, solution-oriented individual with strong communication skills and a proactive approach, capable of conducting adhesive experiments and analyses.
This internship is designed for a duration of 5-9 months, requiring a commitment of five days per week.
Note: Only students enrolled at an educational institution for the entire duration of the internship will be considered.
