Embark on a cutting-edge research journey at the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) as a PhD researcher in molecular neurobiology. This four-year position offers a unique opportunity to explore the intricacies of multiple sclerosis and develop innovative therapeutic strategies to combat remyelination failure.

About the Position

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated candidate with a Master's degree in Biomedical Sciences, Biology, or Neuroscience. Your strong scientific drive and team player mentality will be essential in this project, which aims to reveal the functional differences between injury-naive MS astrocytes and their normal counterparts using iPSC-derived cultures. You will have the chance to work with advanced techniques such as RNA-sequencing analysis, proteomics, CRISPRa/i, and confocal microscopy.

What We Offer

In return for your expertise, we provide a full-time appointment with a minimum salary of € 2901,- gross per month in the first year and a maximum of € 3677,- gross per month in the final year, based on a full-time appointment. Additionally, you will receive 8% holiday pay and 8.3% end-of-year bonus, complying with the CAO-UMC conditions.

  1. Conduct in-depth research on the roles of astrocytes in multiple sclerosis lesion progression and remyelination
  2. Utilize advanced techniques to analyze human iPSC-derived glial and neuron cultures
