Social Work Supervisor: Service Delivery Teams

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Social Work Supervisor to lead our Service Delivery Teams in the Western Cape Government. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality social work services to vulnerable individuals, groups, families, and communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of social workers, social auxiliary workers, and volunteers to deliver effective social work services.
  • Supervise and advise team members on best practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve service delivery and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination.
  • Stay up-to-date with new developments in the social work field and apply knowledge to improve services.
Requirements
  • Formal tertiary qualification in Social Work (e.g. Bachelor of Social Work) that allows professional registration with the SACSSP.
  • Registration with the SACSSP as a Social Worker.
  • A minimum of 7 years appropriate experience in social work after registration as Social Worker with the SACSSP.
  • A valid code B driving licence.
Competencies
  • Knowledge of social work legislation related to children.
  • Knowledge of social work theory and interventions.
  • Knowledge of information and knowledge management.
  • Skills in communication, computer literacy, organizing, planning, project planning, psycho-social intervention, report writing, presentation, and facilitation.
Remuneration

R - R per annum (OSD as prescribed)

Note on remuneration: Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD) are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc.

Selection Process

Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit documentation for verification purposes and criminal record vetting. These candidates will be required to attend interviews on a date and time determined by the department and may also be required to undergo competency assessments/proficiency tests. The selection process will be guided by the EE targets of the employing department.
