About the Challenge

F126 is a significant shipbuilding project for the German Navy, marking its first major endeavor in two decades. The project involves building four new multi-role combat ships to meet the Navy's increasing operational needs. The modularity of the vessel is a key requirement, enabling the German Navy to respond flexibly to national and NATO obligations.

Thales Netherlands and Thales Germany Naval organizations are collaborating on this project, with Thales handling the technical aspects. This project is the largest in the history of the Thales Naval organizations, and we are expanding our technical subcontracting capacity to meet the demands of this project.

About the Role

As a Technical Subcontract Manager, you will work in an international multidisciplinary team, responsible for managing the technical aspects of a specific system segment or subsystems that will be subcontracted. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Decomposing requirements towards subcontracted items;
  • Preparing technical documentation, including Statements of Work and Technical Agreements for the subcontractor;
  • Monitoring and controlling the technical compliance of the subcontractor;
  • Monitoring the technical progress of the subcontractor according to the agreed milestone planning;
  • Reviewing and validating deliveries according to technical specifications;
  • Collaborating closely with system architects and engineers;
  • Being the point of contact for all technical issues with the subcontractor, including specialties that require alignment with experts from the engineering team;
  • Representing the team in technical meetings with subcontractors, sometimes with the prime contractor and/or customer.

The Technical Subcontract Manager will have demonstrable experience in the naval domain and be a specialist in one of the following areas:

  • Communication Systems;
  • Bi/multi-static Towed Array Sonar;
  • Tactical Data Link;
  • Electronic Support Measures (ESM);
  • Navigation.
About You

We are looking for an individual with:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams;
  • A high level of creativity, initiative, pragmatism, and persuasiveness;
  • Affinity with project management;
  • Language proficiency in English (listening, reading, speaking, and writing) at a European language level of C1, with German at level B2/C1 being a benefit;
  • Flexibility with respect to traveling abroad and operating in an international environment;
  • Location: Hengelo, Netherlands.
