Your Role
As we expand our operations into Europe, we are seeking a seasoned Dutch-qualified lawyer (or equivalent) to join our legal team in Amsterdam. Reporting directly to the Head of Legal for Europe, you will play a crucial role in our ambition to establish a European banking presence.

This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the legal framework within the Netherlands, tackling diverse challenges that require both meticulous attention to detail and strategic foresight.

Key Responsibilities
You will:

  • Support the Head of Legal in developing the legal team and facilitating ClearBank's growth in Europe.
  • Lead and mentor legal team members on commercial matters, overseeing their professional development.
  • Collaborate with the Group legal team to align with the overarching goals and values of the organization.
  • Act as a strategic partner, engaging with stakeholders across various departments.
  • Draft and negotiate complex commercial agreements with clients, partners, and suppliers, while supervising junior team members.
  • Provide legal counsel on commercial and regulatory aspects of contracts, ensuring compliance with financial services regulations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external legal advisors.
  • Update and maintain ClearBank's legal documentation in accordance with evolving laws and best practices.
  • Assist with corporate governance matters as needed.
  • Contribute to the development and review of company policies and procedures.
  • Deliver training on commercial law and regulatory issues to the business.

Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • A degree in Dutch law with significant experience in commercial law, particularly within the financial services sector.
  • Expertise in contractual principles and a proven track record in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.
  • Knowledge of financial law, outsourcing regulations, and their application in contract drafting.
  • The ability to work independently, demonstrating initiative and sound decision-making skills.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in team leadership and accountability for team development.
  • A proactive approach in a dynamic work environment.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
