Job Purpose
The Machine Conditioning department is a vital segment of the Development & Engineering division at ASML, focusing on the functional components and modules of our lithography systems. Your work will involve temperature regulation and gas management, which play a crucial role in minimizing the environmental impact of our machines, aligning with our sustainability objectives.
As the Lead Engineer, you will oversee the conceptualization, detailed design, and technical documentation of products, including drawings and other necessary documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include translating architectural designs into specifications that fulfill the established requirements, creating 3D models, managing engineering modifications, and validating that the design operates as intended.
You will proactively collect data from suppliers, manufacturing facilities, and field operations to enhance your designs for future iterations and upgrades. Additionally, you will develop a strategic roadmap for the (sub)-modules under your purview.
Regular collaboration with the Sub-Function architect and product owner will be essential. The team typically consists of 6 to 10 members, some of whom may be co-developers.
Main duties include:
- Contributing to feasibility assessments during the early development stages of (sub-)modules.
- Converting performance specifications into design criteria for (sub-)modules, focusing on aspects such as flow, pressure drop, gas purity, availability, and structural integrity.
- Leading technical discussions to identify optimal design solutions that satisfy all requirements, including organizing and facilitating design reviews.
- Ensuring timely and quality implementation of solutions.
- Documenting designs with appropriate models and drawings.
- Engaging with internal clients and suppliers.
- Defining and executing final tests to verify specifications in collaboration with module integration into complex ASML systems.
- Developing a hardware roadmap aligned with the (sub-)function roadmap.
- Collecting insights from suppliers, manufacturing, and field operations to inform the hardware roadmap and sharing lessons learned with technical teams.
- Guiding junior designers to produce high-quality designs when necessary.
Qualifications and Experience
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related discipline is required.
- Significant design experience in relevant industries.
- A minimum of 5 years in a lead engineering position.
- Strong understanding of manufacturability for mechanical components.
- Proficient in technical communication with suppliers.
- Experience with NX (Unigraphics) or similar CAD software is essential.
