Mechanical Engineering Internship: Glue Drift Analysis

5 dagen geleden

Eindhoven, Noord-Brabant, Nederland ASML Voltijd

Background Overview

The Sensors Mechanics group operates within the Mechanical Development cluster, focusing on the creation of optical sensor systems, including wafer height measurement systems and image sensors. A significant aspect of this group's development portfolio is the image sensors, which are strategically positioned atop the wafer stage to assess various parameters such as the focal plane's position, light energy, optical aberrations, and the stage's alignment with a reference point. These sensors utilize a camera or sensor shielded by a glass plate marked with optical indicators. The glass plate is affixed using a two-component epoxy within the sensor housing. Ensuring the stability of this adhesive connection over time is crucial, as any deviations can compromise the quality of our customer's integrated circuits. A key challenge to this stability is the outgassing that occurs when the adhesive is subjected to the vacuum conditions within our scanners. Given the limited in-scanner testing time, there is a pressing need for an offline platform to evaluate potential enhancements.

Your Responsibilities

Your primary task will be to establish and execute experiments aimed at investigating and improving the drift associated with critical glue connections. Various setups are available at ASML and other locations; it will be your responsibility to identify suitable options and determine how to leverage them effectively. Key considerations include the accuracy of the instruments, selection of appropriate samples, and the creation of a stable support structure. Additionally, you will need to analyze the results and present them in a coherent manner. Understanding the sub-nanometer drift you are examining is essential for accurate interpretation of the results and for defining the requirements for the experimental setup. You are encouraged to propose ideas for enhancing the stability of the adhesive connection, and if time permits, you may have the opportunity to develop prototypes to demonstrate the feasibility and performance of your concepts.

Your Profile

To qualify for this position, you should be:

  • A master's student with a background in mechanical engineering, physics, or a related field.
  • A self-motivated, solution-oriented individual with strong communication skills and a proactive approach, possessing a hands-on mentality for conducting adhesive experiments and analyses.

This internship is designed for students and requires a commitment of five days a week for a duration of five to nine months.
