PhD Researcher in Electromagnetic Metasurfaces

We are seeking a highly motivated PhD researcher to join our team at the Eindhoven University of Technology. The successful candidate will work on the development of reconfigurable metasurfaces for Radar Cross Section (RCS) control.
Research ObjectivesThe main objective of this PhD research project is to develop advanced and effective frameworks for the design of reconfigurable metasurfaces. The project will focus on the development of an accurate and computationally efficient framework for the design of metasurfaces, as well as the experimental validation of the theoretical design and demonstration of the technology.
Key Responsibilities- Develop an accurate and computationally efficient framework for the design of metasurfaces.
- Experimentally validate the theoretical design and demonstrate the technology.
- Assess different reconfigurability technologies and select the most suitable one for the experimental validation.
- Investigate the scalability of the technology to large surfaces and its compatibility with real platforms.
- Develop an adaptive control algorithm to reconfigure the metasurface in response to different operational conditions.
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics.
- Strong background in Electromagnetic Fields, Antennas, and Electromagnetic modelling.
- Programming skills in MATLAB and/or Python.
- Experience with commercial software packages for electromagnetic modelling.
We offer a full-time employment for four years, with an intermediate evaluation after nine months. You will spend 10% of your employment on teaching tasks. We also offer a salary and benefits in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities, as well as a year-end bonus and annual vacation pay.
