Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Global Lead Buyer for Minerals and Trace Elements to coordinate purchasing activities for this category worldwide. The ideal candidate will acquire raw materials in a cost-effective and timely manner while maintaining alignment with divisional guidelines and global sourcing policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • 1. Procurement Strategy and Sourcing Plans
    • Develop and implement procurement strategies and sourcing plans for assigned sub-categories worldwide.
    • Support the development of procurement strategies and related sourcing plans for specific spend sub-categories.
    • Implement approved sourcing plans for specific sub-categories or products at global scale or in a specific region.
  • 2. Performance Management
    • Monitor and optimize the purchase performance of sub-category sourcing activities at global, regional, or local levels.
    • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and take corrective actions when necessary.
    • Initiate and manage structural sourcing improvement projects after approval by the procurement category manager.
  • 3. Supplier and Contract Management
    • Develop and manage key supplier relationships within the frameworks of approved sourcing plans.
    • Manage ongoing business cycles of supplier selection, negotiation, and contracting for selected raw materials and related suppliers.
    • Ensure adequate contract management and implement overall framework agreements with main suppliers.
  • 4. Data and Purchasing Process Management
    • Collect and analyze spend, supply market, and supplier data to optimize sourcing plans and related improvement actions.
    • Ensure purchasing processes and practices are analyzed correctly to gain insight into efficient and effective purchasing.
    • Manage data in procurement/ERP systems to deliver consistent management information and purchase performance.
  • 5. Maximizing Business Profitability
    • Support the development of category sourcing plans for assigned spend sub-categories or products under the overall accountability of a Category Manager.
    • Execute approved sourcing plans for selected sub-categories or products at global and local scales.
    • Ensure business continuity by securing supplies on the short, medium, and longer term.

Requirements:

  • A master's degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience or an experienced Bachelor's degree holder.
  • At least regional experience in procurement and supply chain management.
  • Demonstrated experience in sourcing, supplier management, and resource management for a global organization is desirable.
  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills.
  • Fluent in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation abilities with a demonstrated capacity to engage suppliers for complex problem-solving.
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships across various functions.
  • Proficient in conducting cost price analyses and make-versus-buy evaluations.
  • Ability to think both strategically and tactically with attention to detail.
