Project OverviewThe aim of this project is to bring quantum sensing into the world of biomedical applications. We will develop a novel quantum sensing method to measure the local metabolic activity of yeast cells in bioreactor cultures. This will enable us to assess the health of the bioreactor culture in real-time, providing valuable insights for bioprocess optimization.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a diamond-based quantum sensing method for bioreactor cultures
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of biologists, chemists, and physicists to achieve project goals
- Conduct nanoscale measurements on single cells using our new nanoscale MRI technique
- Assess the health of bioreactor cultures using our novel quantum sensing method
- Master's degree in biology, biotechnology, or a related field
- Experience with microscopy, culturing of yeast, and bioreactor operation
- Strong background in biophysics and/or quantum mechanics
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
We offer a full-time research position for four years, with a gross salary of € 2,901 per month in the first year, increasing to € 3,677 per month in the fourth year. In addition, we offer 8% holiday pay and 8.3% end-of-year bonus. The conditions of employment comply with the Collective Labour Agreement for Medical Centers (CAO-UMC).
