In this thrilling position, your responsibilities as a commercial manager extend beyond the signing of contracts; you will maintain commercial oversight throughout the project's execution phase, serving as a pivotal member of the project team. Collaborating closely with a group of professionals, you will discern client needs and concerns, negotiating additional services, new pricing agreements, or variations as necessary. Your role will also encompass financial settlements and overall project reconciliations with subcontractors, including dispute resolution, payments, and claims management.
Key Responsibilities
- Shape the commercial initiatives of SMIT Salvage, focusing on business growth and development.
- Serve as the primary account manager for designated clients, positioning SMIT Salvage as the preferred partner for emergency responses.
- Expand and maintain a network of response partners and subcontractors, formalizing these relationships through pre-qualification and cooperation agreements.
- Oversee project management from the office, ensuring accurate financial settlements.
- Negotiate and finalize contracts with clients and subcontractors.
- Identify new business opportunities and variations with existing clients.
- Act as the first point of contact for emergency response operations outside regular office hours, as per the rota.
Required Qualifications
To excel as a commercial manager at SMIT Salvage, you should possess a strong commercial drive and competitive spirit, with the ability to quickly establish relationships in an international context. Recognizing the diverse interests of various stakeholders is crucial. You should be a collaborative team player, an effective communicator across different levels, and culturally aware. Strong analytical skills and a proactive mindset are essential, along with creativity and decisiveness. Additionally, you should have:
- A degree in a nautical or business-related field.
- A minimum of two years of experience in a similar role within an international setting.
- A proven track record in a business-to-business environment.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English, with proficiency in another language being a plus.
- A willingness to work abroad when necessary.
- Experience in the shipping, insurance, towage, or salvage sectors is highly advantageous.
