As a Senior Engineer in Opto-Mechatronics, you will be integral to various projects at Sioux Technologies.

Your expertise in opto-mechatronic systems will guide the development and integration of optical components within mechatronic frameworks. You will engage with a variety of optical systems, including imaging devices, 3D sensors, distance measurement tools, lasers, and more. In your role as the optics authority for projects, you will oversee all optical components and related system considerations. While your primary focus may often be on the initial stages of projects, your involvement will span the entire product development lifecycle, from conceptualization and technology validation to industrial implementation.

Depending on your qualifications, you may be appointed as an Opto-Mechatronic Architect or Designer.

  • Participating in projects throughout the entire product development process: from proving the viability of your concepts through functional models and calculations, to translating them into designs, and overseeing integration and testing.
  • Enjoying a diverse range of tasks, including conceptual work, modeling, design, and laboratory experiments, while managing multiple projects across various technologies and applications.
  • Collaborating within multidisciplinary teams comprising system architects, computational physicists, image processing experts, and others to achieve project goals.
  • Mentoring junior engineers in their assignments and helping them cultivate their technical skills. Your experience will contribute to the growth of the Physics & Optics division at Sioux.

Qualifications we seek

You will find yourself aligning with the following criteria:

  • Over 8 years of professional experience in opto-mechatronic system design within the high-tech industry.
  • A completed advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in physics or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in the design, implementation, and validation of opto-mechatronic systems, including illumination and imaging/machine vision applications.
  • Familiarity with the systems integration of optical (sub-)systems, encompassing opto-mechanics, tolerance analysis, metrology, and calibration.
  • Experience in both custom design and series production, including industrialization processes.
  • Strong modeling, experimental, and analytical problem-solving capabilities.
  • A systematic approach with the ability to think both broadly and in detail, coupled with excellent prioritization skills.
  • A pragmatic, hands-on attitude, unafraid to engage with practical tasks when necessary.
  • Exceptional communication skills, effectively engaging with internal stakeholders, customers, and suppliers.
