Job Title: Freelance Translator

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Freelance Translator to join our team at the International Criminal Court. The successful candidate will be responsible for translating a wide range of documents, including legal, military, medical, and human rights materials, from Filipino, Tagalog, or Cebuano to English.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Translate documents with high accuracy and attention to detail
  • Consult with the LSU Translation Team to clarify ambiguities and build glossaries
  • Apply feedback provided by the LSU Translation Team to ensure delivery of a quality product

Requirements:

  • High-level proficiency in English and the source language (Filipino, Tagalog, or Cebuano)
  • Experience in translation or a related field, preferably in a legal or human rights setting
  • Strong IT skills, including CAT tools
  • Excellent eye for detail, accuracy, style, and usage

Assessment Method: Shortlisted candidates will be linguistically accredited and subject to obtaining necessary security clearance. Successful candidates will be placed on a roster of accredited translators.

Offers of Work: Accredited translators on the roster will be contacted for work assignments based on their acceptance of the applicable rates and terms and conditions, their availability, and their suitability for a particular project.

Working with the ICC: Freelance translators must understand that material outsourced for translation may on occasion risk being of an upsetting or disturbing nature.

ICC Core Competencies: The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate dedication to the mission and values of the ICC, as well as professionalism, teamwork, learning and developing, handling uncertain situations, interaction, and realising objectives.
