ABOUT THE ROLE

As the External Affairs Manager, you will develop and execute strategies to manage and enhance Suntory's corporate reputation and profile with key stakeholders. You will lead external communication efforts, manage crisis situations, and establish strong media relations. Your main responsibilities will include:
• Developing and implementing the external affairs strategy and activation plan for SBF EECM-Benelux (covering many markets in Europe, Africa & the Caribbean)
• Engaging with key stakeholders, including national media, specialist press, organizations, NGOs, Key Opinion Leaders, and influencers
• Creating a proactive public policy advocacy strategy and conducting stakeholder mapping
• Serving as the primary contact for media inquiries and managing media relations to secure positive coverage and respond to negative publicity
• Developing and executing crisis communication plans to manage and mitigate the impact of potential crises
• Monitoring the progress, learnings, and KPIs of communication programs and developing reports for internal stakeholders
• Supporting commercial teams in communicating ESG topics and establishing a controlled data flow for ESG disclosures
• Collaborating with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging and alignment of external affairs strategies

REQUIREMENTS

• Proven experience in public affairs, public relations, and crisis management
• In-depth understanding of EU policy, ESG standards, and the media landscape in the FMCG sector
• Proven track record in stakeholder relations management
• Ability to think critically and analyze complex issues
• Ability to leverage business insights for thought leadership
• Experience in issue and crisis management, advising senior management
• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
• Team player with exceptional influencing skills, demonstrating empathy, personal tact, and integrity
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a talent for storytelling
• Strong analytical, organizational, research, and investigation skills
• Efficient time and project management, capable of handling ambiguity and stress
• Proficient in English; additional proficiency in French or Dutch required
