What to expect

In Teppanyaki Restaurant Sazanka, we offer à la minute cooking with Japanese precision to our local as well as international guests. Our guests enjoy seeing Japanese Teppanyaki chefs at work showing their special cooking techniques. We also offer an extensive choice of sakes and wines.
Add to this unique experience, we are looking for colleagues who offer excellent service. We are international service team and working closely with our Japanese chef.

As Sommelier you work closely together with the Service Manager and you are responsible for serving and pairing matching wines to the dishes, sharing your knowledge and directing the team. Your main tasks will be:

Proactive sale of wine; Operational tasks in the restaurant, such as taking orders and servicing guests; Assist in developing excellent guest contact and caring for the correct handling of requests and remarks from both guests and colleagues; Partially responsible for keeping the restaurant wine list up-to-date; Continuing maintaning a good relationship with the other departments; Coaching and managing the team; Serving our guests during their stay in Hotel Okura Amsterdam according to standards that are set up by the hotel (align with standards of The Leading Hotels of the World) and Michelin; Instructing the team in regards to the service standards.

You are also available to work on public holidays. The shifts are from afternoon till closing of the restaurant.


What do we offer?

Contract: 1 year, with the possibility of extending. We want you to stay Salary: Group 5. Click for the salary scale based on a full-time employment Bonus: 1 week salary when the hotel reaches the budgeted GOP (Gross Operating Profit) level and you get a minimum total score of successful in your yearend evaluation 8% holiday allowance (pro rata); 25 vacation days per year (pro rata). Compensation for National Holidays. Horeca CAO applies; General Pension Scheme of Hospitality and Catering; General Survivors pension; Attractive family and friends rates on overnight stays at Hotel Okura Amsterdam; Once a year staff discount in one of the restaurants (50%); Staff discount in our restaurants (20%); Contribution to travel expenses from 10 km (one way); Study budget of €1.000; After obtaining the probationary period, you will receive an overnight stay with breakfast as a gift (2 people), so that you can experience the hotel as a guest

You have 1 - 2 years of work experience in hotels and/or restaurants You are fluent in either Dutch or English, speaking and understanding Japanese is an advantage Open minded and interested to other cultures
