- Background- EIT InnoEnergy is looking for a Business Development Manager for the Benelux office. Soon, the UK will be added as a target market. The role will report to the CEO Benelux and will have a functional line to the Business Development Lead EIT InnoEnergy.
The Business Development Manager plays a crucial role in shaping the success of our investments, particularly those originating from our incubation activities. Therefore, the objective is to expand, improve and nurture the potential customer base of our investments and to make deals happen that generate both first-time and recurring revenues for these investments. between our investments and their customers that generate first-time and/or recurring revenue for the investments. This marks and important value inflection point for our assets as it shows market readiness of their product or service.- The primary task is to develop and execute the business development strategy:
- In close cooperation with our investment directors, craft and execute a business development plan for the Benelux, and soon the UK. The goal is to make a transaction happen between our investments and their (new) customers by initiating, leading and closing the business development and sales process and bringing commercial focus and business development capabilities to our investments. Such a transaction can mean a direct sale of a product or services, securing contracts for Proofs of Concept (POC’s) or Joint Development Agreements (JDA’s), and letters of intent (LOI’s) including grants and nominations.- In practice, this means your work on the following dimensions:
- Create new channels, find new customers and make transactions happen between our investments and their future customers: direct sales, LOI’s, GDA’s, grants, etc.
- Further leverage, broaden and nurture the European ecosystem of InnoEnergy with strategic investors, industries, government agencies, and potential customers for our investments.
- With your colleagues from Marketing and Communication, co-create, plan, and promote EIT InnoEnergy’s events such as The Business Booster, speaker events, and conferences.
- Experience & Qualifications- 3-5 years of experience with proven track-record in a Sales or Business Development role for new (hardware) products, services or systems in a business-to-business environment.
- Strength in defining and improving value propositions, use cases, define and leverage benefits and interact with product development to optimize new services and products for easy and profitable market adoption.
- Ability to develop a quick and thorough understanding and vision of the commercial opportunities that a new product or service brings to accelerate the energy transition.
- Basic understanding of the energy markets and dynamics,, knowledge of industrial players active in the energy transition domain and an independent developing view on how the energy transition might evolve.
- Master’s degree in Engineering or Economics with affinity for technology.
- Fluency in English and Dutch both written and spoken is a must. Any other European language is highly advantageous.
- Adaptable and effective in a highly dynamic, ambitious, and rapidly evolving environment within a fast-growing matrix organization.
- Driven by impact, contributing creatively, thinking ‘’outside the box’’, and demonstrating a strong work ethic in execution.
- Willingness to develop a close team working relationship based on an open, honest and transparent communication.
- Willingness to travel across Europe for European meetings and online conferences and events.
- Dependencies- The role will report directly to the CEO Benelux and will have a functional line to Business Development Manager EIT InnoEnergy.
- The role will be part of the leadership team of EIT InnoEnergy Benelux.
- Good working relationship with the regional Business Development Managers and Investment Directors across Europe and the US.
- Location- This position is based in our head office in Eindhoven with 2-3 days per week in the office and the possibility of travel. The rest of the week, you may choose to work in the office or work from home.
