Senior SRE Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior SRE Engineer to join our Global SRE team. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and scalability of our critical services worldwide.

About the Role
  • You will develop, innovate, mature, and implement operational SRE practices and related IT processes across ING, in cooperation with entity-level SRE teams. Your overall purpose is to improve the reliability of our critical IT and business services.
  • You will define global standards for reliability practices, ensure proper documentation, training material, and other ways to get knowledge to engineers across ING.
  • You will contribute as a reliability expert to key operational activities, focusing on services or incidents touching multiple Tech entities. This includes performing critical business service/critical chain reviews to identify weaknesses to be solved and supporting global major incidents (as an expert).
  • You will provide expertise to ensure high-quality root-cause analysis and follow-up of structural findings with Tech domains.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of ING's global observability strategy and ensure its implementation across global platforms and services.
  • Operate in strong cooperation with involved Enterprise Architects, entity SREs, engineers, and the I&E monitoring team.
  • Mature major incident management process, capacity planning, and forecasting practices, and introduce error budgeting.
Requirements
  • 10-15+ years of experience in software engineering/IT operations and/or software architect roles.
  • Knowledgeable about technology at all levels, from infrastructure to front-end, with expert knowledge and hands-on experience on one or more levels.
  • Familiarity with tools such as ING Private cloud or Public cloud (Azure or Google cloud), related VM/container stacks, application-level technologies, and tooling heavily used at ING.
