Rules and Regulations Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Rules and Regulations Engineer to join our standardization team at Damen Shipyards. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring that our ship designs and solutions comply with applicable rules and standards.
Main Responsibilities:
- Support the Services department and the Yards in case of problems related to standard designs;
- Shipbuilding standardization and development projects, under the ultimate responsibility of the Project Manager Engineering;
- Creating a well-supported technical design and solution, based on functional and/or stakeholder requirements;
- Ensuring that the designs and solutions comply to the applicable rules and standards.
Key Accountabilities:
- Working closely together in a multi-disciplinary team;
- Supporting the organization to check the impact on new R&R;
- Maintaining the contact with Class, related to technical issues;
- Developing and maintaining standardized booklets/templates;
- Supporting the Class Society and National Authorities approval process;
- Delivering R&R related content to Design Philosophies, Measurement and Commissioning protocols;
- Setting up a project plan and performing it from end-to-end;
- Assessing and analyzing input of stakeholders like, Product Group, Engineering, Services and Suppliers;
- Documenting agreements with class;
- Smoothing the classification process by removing the steps without added value;
- Participating in the Rules & Regulations committee with Damen;
- Developing and giving Knowledge Sharing Sessions;
- Performing calculations related to Class Society.
Requirements:
- A quality consciousness and a practical approach;
- An easy-going person, pro-active, creative, showing ownership and result driven;
- Bachelor degree in Engineering, preferably in the field of Naval architecture;
- Working experience in Engineering in the maritime sector;
- Affinity with, and above average knowledge of the R&R and being able to interpret it and translate it for our ship-type portfolio and standard solutions;
- Experience with AutoCAD;
- An interest in innovation and an open mindset to new technologies;
- Good communication skills in managing stakeholders and in documenting the standard;
- English is a must, Dutch is a plus.
