About the Role

As a Duty Management Trainee at Hotel Okura, you will embark on an exciting journey to gain a comprehensive understanding of the hotel business. You will work closely with 24 different departments, developing your skills and knowledge through an extensive introduction period. Your responsibilities will evolve over time, and you will be expected to take on various tasks, including assisting departments during busy periods, serving as a contact person for guests and employees, and handling complaints. Your contributions will be recognized through the creation of Duty Reports, which will enhance the smooth handover to the management team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in intensive cross-training within multiple departments to gain a thorough understanding of the hotel's operations.
  • Assist various departments during peak periods, ensuring seamless service delivery.
  • Develop creative solutions to address challenges and improve hotel operations under the supervision of the Duty Manager.
  • Conduct inventory analysis to identify areas for improvement and discuss findings with colleagues.
  • Serve as the primary contact for guests and employees, adapting your schedule to meet the hotel's needs.
  • Manage and follow up on complaints, sharing insights with department heads to prevent recurrence.
  • Prepare and submit Duty Reports to facilitate effective handovers.
  • Contribute to exceeding guest expectations through proactive thinking and collaboration.
Requirements
  • You are a student at a hotel school in the Netherlands (HBO) with prior experience in a hotel or restaurant, preferably in the luxury sector.
  • You possess a genuine passion for the hotel industry and excel in dynamic environments.
  • You are a representative ambassador for Hotel Okura, embodying the company's values.
  • You are proactive, able to work under pressure, and possess excellent multitasking skills.
  • You have a keen eye for detail and are guest-oriented, with strong social skills.
  • You are discreet and able to handle confidential information.
  • You are eager to learn, work independently, and motivated to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • You possess excellent communication and computer skills, with experience in MS Office and Opera.
  • You are fluent in Dutch and English, both orally and in writing.
What We Offer

We provide a trainee contract with a minimum duration of 5 months, offering a competitive salary of 750 euros for a 38-hour workweek. Additionally, you will receive 1 day off per month for internships lasting at least 6 months, and you will be entitled to various training opportunities and discounts in our restaurants and overnight stays at Hotel Okura Amsterdam.
