Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Manager Trade Compliance Europe to lead our Regional Trade Compliance team in Europe. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and operationalizing all aspects of trade compliance programs, including risk assessment, training, and awareness, advisory, policies and procedures, monitoring, raising concerns and investigations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Regional Trade Compliance team in Europe, overseeing the day-to-day operation of trade compliance programs.
  • Collaborate with other Regional Sr. Managers to achieve global defined KPIs.
  • Work closely with Legal on internal and external audits in Europe, including the UK, Norway, and Switzerland.
  • Provide guidance and support on Export Controls & Sanctions incidents in a dynamic environment.
  • Lead the broker management program and optimize the internal risk management program using Data Analytics for post-clearance checks and other trade compliance checks.
  • Participate in and support strategic projects, including M&A transactions, with relevant compliance input, evaluation, and investigation.
  • Develop and maintain a successful compliance team with a diverse membership, mentoring and developing team members to transform the compliance function of Johnson Controls International into an outstanding organization.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate records and metrics for the Trade Compliance program.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as Logistics & Distribution, Legal Compliance, Customer Support, Sales, IT, and Internal Audit, to direct Trade Compliance issues to appropriate existing channels.
Requirements
  • At least a bachelor's degree in international trade, law, tax, or business economics.
  • 5 years of experience in Customs & Global Trade in a multinational environment, such as a big 4 consultancy firm, law firm, government, or multinational corporation.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a team in a multi-cultural, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a network within and outside Johnson Controls International, including customs agents and customs authorities.
  • Demonstrated experience with EU Export Controls & Sanctions, with a strong understanding of the UK and/or US Export Controls & Sanctions.
  • Demonstrated experience leading local audits across the European region, including the UK.
  • Fluent in English, with a second language (Dutch, German, or Spanish) being a significant advantage.
