About the Role

AIG's underwriters play a crucial role in developing insurance solutions that address the exposures of companies and individuals. As a Senior Underwriter Property Netherlands, you will be part of our team of enthusiastic professionals based in our Rotterdam office. Your primary responsibility will be to handle new business and review and renew existing books of business in a portfolio of major global accounts with large exposures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage profitability in your own portfolio by controlling rate adequacy, line size, engineering quality, and planning.
  • Negotiate and underwrite profitable new and renewal business according to AIG underwriting guidelines and authorities.
  • Ensure accurate and compliant policy documentation and support completion of policy administration.
  • Connect actively with and involve colleagues in distribution, risk engineering, claims, and operations.
  • Develop engaging positive relationships with clients, brokers, and other relevant internal and external stakeholders.
  • Show leadership behavior and exchange vision, knowledge, and expertise with internal colleagues and external market partners.
  • Proactively participate in training and personal development opportunities.
Requirements
  • Significant experience in the insurance industry, preferably in Property underwriting.
  • An appropriate level of education and all necessary WFT exams.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal in Dutch and English language.
  • Time management – ability to manage and prioritize workload and diary management.
  • Ability to contribute effectively within a team environment.
  • Stress resistant: able to work in a busy environment.
  • Courtesy, empathy, and a helpful attitude when dealing with external and internal clients.
  • Team player.

  • Good negotiation, presentation, and networking skills.
