Job Title: Instructor (Technical)

Carnival Corporation and plc is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Instructor (Technical) to join our team at CSMART. As an Instructor (Technical), you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality training to our cruise ship officers, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide exceptional service to our guests.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver Training: Develop and deliver training programs to ship-board technical staff, focusing on crew resource management, current and emerging technologies, and procedures achieved by training and simulations.
  • Represent Corporate Safety Culture: Act as a representative of the corporate safety culture and promote this attitude with candidates, ensuring they understand the importance of safety in the maritime industry.
  • Develop Courses and Procedures: Develop new courses and procedures to be implemented on board ships, staying up-to-date with current practices and technology.
  • Liaise with Operations Support Team: Liaise with the Operations Support team and other instructors to ensure everything is prepared prior to the start of courses.
  • Manage Equipment: Manage equipment, including simulators, and address any deficiencies to ensure a smooth training experience.
Requirements and Experience:
  • Experience: Typically, 5 years of experience in a STCW (III/2 Chief engineer unlimited or III/6) licensed role or equivalent experience as a Senior Engineer / Superintendent or Subject Matter Experts (SME) in the Maritime Field.
  • Leadership Experience: Experience in a leadership role in the Maritime Field for at least 5 years.
  • Analytical and Structured Thinker: Possess analytical and structured thinking skills to develop and deliver effective training programs.
  • Cruise Ship Experience: Cruise ship experience is highly preferred.
  • Teaching Experience: Experience in teaching or instructing is an asset.
Technical Skills:
  • Technical Knowledge: Possess a deep understanding of technical aspects, industry standards, and best practices.
  • Computer Skills: Knowledge of computers and networks, as well as proficiency in MS Office.
Language Skills:
  • Language Proficiency: Apply fluent written and verbal English language skills to effectively convey information across.
Personal Skills:
  • Growing Mindset: Demonstrate a growing mindset and ability to influence others.
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively in a multi-cultural team.
  • Ability to Work Unassisted: Ability to work unassisted and navigate complex social dynamics.
