We are seeking a Director of Operations to join our team at Fairphone, a social enterprise driving change in the electronics industry.

Job Description:

Fairphone is committed to creating positive change through our business model, which centers around producing and marketing consumer electronics that transform the industry from within. As a Director of Operations, you will play a pivotal role in driving our business's operational excellence, shaping key areas of our organization, including IT, customer support, and business operations.

You will manage four direct reports, each heading critical functions: Head of IT, overseeing information technology infrastructure and systems; Head of Customer Support, managing 1st and 2nd line support teams for exceptional customer service; Head of Operations, leading business operations, quality control, and after-sales service; and Operations Asia, driving operations and production initiatives in our Asia region.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure strategic initiatives are implemented effectively across responsible departments.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations to guarantee execution of tasks and projects.
  • Leverage AI technologies to optimize workflows, automate routine tasks, and drive data-driven improvements for enhanced operational efficiency.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness within responsible departments.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor day-to-day operational systems and processes for visibility into goals, progress, and obstacles.

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a strong operational mindset, proven track record of success in fast-paced environments, and continuous improvement DNA. You should be a reliable team player with excellent communication skills, curious by nature, and take ownership at work. Experience with international operations, particularly in Asia, is highly desirable.

Requirements:
  • Proven experience in the telecommunication (electronics) industry or FMCG.
  • Track record in leadership, experience with guiding Heads.
  • Deep understanding of operation side of the business.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proven ability to plan and manage operational processes for maximum efficiency and productivity.
  • Experience with utilizing AI-powered analytics platforms and operational tools.
