Assistant Professor in Environmental Economics

We are seeking an exceptional candidate to fill the position of Assistant Professor in Environmental Economics at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. As a member of our Environmental Economics department, you will contribute to our research and teaching programs, focusing on the economics of climate change, energy, food, ecosystems, biodiversity, circularity, and sustainable finance.
Key Responsibilities- Develop a research program in environmental economics, with a focus on one or more of our research themes.
- Teach courses in environmental economics at the BSc and MSc levels, including thesis supervision.
- Contribute to administrative tasks, such as departmental meetings and committee work.
- Pursue a high-quality publication output, with a focus on peer-reviewed journals.
- Initiate collaborative projects and work in teams to advance our research agenda.
- Hold a PhD in environmental economics or a strongly related economic discipline.
- Have a strong research interest and show potential for developing a strong academic track record in environmental economics.
- Have a clear methodological focus and use quantitative methods in your research.
- Be committed to academic teaching in environmental economics and sustainability-related topics, especially for interdisciplinary groups.
- Have additional research and teaching experience since your PhD (or in addition to your PhD research).
- Show academic and personal leadership, with ideas that fit within the environmental economics section of IVM.
- Value teamwork and be motivated to contribute to team(s).
- Have a strong interest in interdisciplinary collaboration and generating societal impact through applied research, with ideas on how to do this.

What We Offer- A competitive salary, ranging from € 4,492.00 to € 6,148.00 gross per month, on a full-time basis.
