Our firm is driven by a global vision that prioritizes clients in every aspect of our operations. The Client & Market Development (CMD) teams play a crucial role in translating this vision into actionable strategies.
This role will be instrumental in shaping the business strategy for Clifford Chance, with an anticipated expansion into cross-border activities across Continental Europe. The responsibilities are expected to evolve towards a more international scope in alignment with our CMD organization’s growth in Europe.
Key Responsibilities
In this position, you will work closely with legal professionals and CMD team members to ensure the firm capitalizes on significant trends and opportunities within our client portfolio.
- Assisting the Amsterdam Litigation & Dispute Resolution, Tax, Pensions, Employment, and Projects Finance practice areas, while advising leadership on executing their commercial strategies.
- Aiding partners in identifying growth opportunities for existing and prospective clients, while developing and implementing strategies to maximize this potential, particularly within the European (fin)tech hub.
- Supporting lawyers in the pursuit of new business opportunities, including leading the creation of bid documents (pitches, RFP responses, and capability statements), while collaborating with pricing, graphics, and global proposals teams.
- Collaborating with CMD colleagues across Europe and globally on strategic cross-border projects to enhance growth in client sectors and service lines, especially in tech and fintech initiatives.
- Managing submissions for league tables and legal directories to elevate our external visibility, in close cooperation with our global submissions team.
- Overseeing client relationship management for one or more major global clients.
The Team
The CMD Amsterdam team is part of Clifford Chance's expansive and dynamic global CMD network.
Our Amsterdam team comprises an international group of CMD professionals with diverse backgrounds, all dedicated to placing clients at the forefront of our efforts. The team includes three CMD managers, a CMD coordinator, and two Events managers, reporting to the Head of CMD. We work in close collaboration with our Brand, Communication, and Marketing (BCM) specialists.
Qualifications
Ideal Candidate:
- Holds an academic degree (bachelor or master).
- Possesses a minimum of five years of proven experience in business development or practice management within professional services or law firms.
- Demonstrates extensive experience in strategic business planning, key account management, and complex RFP management.
- Exhibits strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence diverse stakeholders, alongside well-developed presentation skills.
- Capable of navigating cross-border and multicultural environments.
- Thrives in dynamic settings and adapts to an increasingly international role.
- Fluent in English; proficiency in Dutch is advantageous.
