Position Summary

As the Chief Engineer for Manufacturing Systems (Industrial Architect) within the GKN Civil Business Line, you will be instrumental in defining the future of our aerospace manufacturing systems.

Your key responsibility will be to conceptualize and develop optimal manufacturing systems that leverage both current and emerging technologies, catering to New Product Introductions as well as existing product lines, all aimed at boosting efficiency and productivity.

This position is crucial for maintaining our competitive advantage in the aerospace sector and laying the groundwork for the next generation of flight structure manufacturing.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline. Advanced degrees and certifications are advantageous.
  • Experience: 5-7 years of experience in aerospace manufacturing, process engineering, or industrial architecture, demonstrating a successful project execution history.
  • Technical Skills: Profound knowledge of manufacturing system design technologies, aerospace manufacturing, and operational management principles.
  • Project Management: Proven ability to oversee complex projects, including budgeting, timeline management, and risk assessment.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to interpret complex data sets and make informed decisions.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and for presenting architectural concepts and project updates to stakeholders.
  • Adaptability: Capacity to adjust to rapidly evolving manufacturing technologies and industry trends.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in industrial architecture, Lean Six Sigma, or project management.
  • Software Skills: Familiarity with simulation software, ERP systems, and data analytics tools.
  • R&D Experience: Background in research and development of innovative manufacturing processes and systems.
  • Leadership: Proven leadership experience in guiding teams and spearheading transformative initiatives.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of aerospace industry regulations and compliance standards.
  • Experience with APQP & PPAP methodologies.
  • Knowledge of part 21 subpart G and EN/AS9100 requirements.
  • Awareness of HSE requirements such as PUWER and COSHH.
