Manufacturing Engineering System Integration Supervisor

As a key member of the Operations team at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will lead a group of engineers and technical specialists in the Manufacturing Engineering System Integration department. Your primary responsibility will be to coach and develop your team members, ensuring their personal and professional growth. You will work closely with the Operations Production Supervisor(s) from the TEM Test Factory to fulfill technical needs and provide support when necessary. To effectively manage your team, you will need to have a strong understanding of technical skills and in-depth TEM knowledge, including mechanical, electrical, and optical aspects. Good coordination and facilitation of factory and supply chain issues are crucial to timely delivery of products to our customers. You will be responsible for organizing proper staffing of engineers to provide adequate levels of technical expertise. Your team will act as a link between development (R&D) and production (Operations) to efficiently organize design transfer and life cycle management. You will work closely with the PLM, Product Marketing, R&D, manufacturing, logistics, purchasing, quality, and Technical Service Support (TSS) groups within Thermo Fisher to ensure development of sustainable products according to the latest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of engineers and technical specialists.
  • Drive the defined strategy.
  • Align the defined goals with all direct reports.
  • Organize proper staffing of engineers to provide adequate levels of technical expertise.
  • Prioritize work and resources across the team.
  • Improve team effectiveness, further mature assigned team, contribute to OE bowler (K)PI's.
  • Have daily management (tier1) in place for your team and drive the K(PI)'s within the required performance.
  • Guide team members professional development by goal setting, mentoring and coaching.
  • Give feedback on succession planning.
  • Provide input on the competence matrix.
  • Actively demonstrate and apply leadership behaviors and act according 4i Values.
  • Remove barriers to success and enable a work environment where colleagues can be their best self and are motivated to excel.
  • Provide input for capital investments.
  • Coordinate and facilitate higher level factory/ supply chain critical issues as needed by interacting with the appropriate functional groups to achieve resolution.
  • Drive execution of factory and field continuous improvement activities.

Requirements:

  • University degree in a technical area, or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required skills.
  • Typically requires 10+ years of experience in high-tech industry environment in service, development or manufacturing.
  • Typically requires 5 years management experience (people and/or projects) in a manufacturing, technical support or service management role in a high tech industry environment.
  • Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (local language is preferred) including communication with multiple levels of management including executive management.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop people via mentoring and coaching.
  • Demonstrated experience with leading and developing technical teams.
  • Working knowledge of cross-site and cross-functional projects management, data analysis and resource planning.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse customers in English and preferably also Dutch language.
  • Be a collaborative team-player with hands-on and can-do mentality.
