What is it about?

Eindhoven University of Technology is seeking a highly motivated PhD researcher to join our team in the field of organic optoelectronics modelling. The successful candidate will work on understanding the underlying quantum mechanical processes that determine the ultimate switching speed of organic optoelectronic devices.

The Research Team

You will be part of the Molecular Materials and Nanodevices group, which researches optoelectronic devices of organic and perovskite semiconductors. The group is embedded in the department of Chemical Engineering and Chemistry and the department of Applied Physics and Science Education.

What will you learn?

You will learn how to work with quantum mechanical modelling software and how to calculate simulation input from basic principles. You will also get acquainted with the growing use of AI in this research area and develop technical skills in a mixed team of experimental and theoretical/computational researchers.

Key Challenge

Understanding how the underlying quantum mechanical processes determine the ultimate switching speed of organic optoelectronic devices is the key challenge. The successful candidate will play a central role in addressing this challenge and contributing to technological breakthroughs.

Job Requirements

  • A master's degree in theoretical/computational Physics or Chemistry.
  • Basic knowledge of AI.
  • A research-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team and interested in collaborating with industrial partners.
  • Motivated to develop your teaching skills and coach students.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English (C1 level).
