Job Title: Labs/Shelf Life Intern

Location: Nijmegen

Duration: 5 to 6 months

Platform/Project: Rigid Sustainable Platform

Start Date: August/September 2024

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Labs/Shelf Life Intern to join our team at The Kraft Heinz Company. As a Labs/Shelf Life Intern, you will be responsible for assisting in the development and validation of a shelf life prediction model for sauces. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a cutting-edge project that will contribute to the company's innovation and growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development and validation of a shelf life prediction model for sauces
  • Conduct chemical, physical, and sensorial analysis to build a prediction model for shelf life
  • Validate emulsions and non-emulsions sauces by shelf life modeling
  • Review relevant literature and perform chemical, physical, and packaging analyses
  • Update and create reports on shelf life sauces model
  • Perform flavors analysis - gas chromatography
  • Execute practical activities, including shelf life tasting and lab analysis
  • Create periodic reports and presentations to keep the team informed about findings and progress
Requirements
  • Food Technology Quality Management/Process Engineering/Food Chemistry/Food Microbiology Bachelor/Master student
  • Had classes on chromatography (GC, HPLC), chemical analysis (titration, Soxhlet), water content, water activity, and rheometer
  • Experience in lab analysis is crucial
  • Experience in modeling of data is a plus
  • Curious and eager to learn, able to work independently and in a team, and accurate with work
  • Strong communication skills and fluency in English, both written and verbal (Dutch is not a requirement but other languages are a plus)
  • Enrolled at a university for at least 50% study load for the duration of the internship
  • EU working rights are required
