Postdoctoral Researcher in Damage Tolerance of Structural Bonded Joints

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team at the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering, Delft University of Technology. The successful candidate will contribute to our research project on damage tolerance of structural bonded joints, focusing on the development and validation of methodologies for fatigue and damage growth tests on generic coupons with bonded structures under combined load cases.
The ideal candidate will have a PhD degree in a relevant field, such as Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a similar field, with a research topic relevant to this project. They will have a strong background in fatigue and damage tolerance of composite structures and materials, as well as experience with adhesive bonding and fatigue testing. The candidate will also have excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate the value of their work in both academic and industry settings.
The successful candidate will work closely with our team, including Dr. ir. J.A. Pascoe and Dr. ir. R.C. Alderliesten, and will have the opportunity to collaborate with other researchers and industry partners. The position is part of the 'Sustainable Structural Bonding Technologies' (SUBSONIC) project, and the candidate will work in a dynamic and international environment.
Responsibilities- Conduct independent research into fatigue and damage tolerance of adhesively bonded composite structures
- Assist in education delivered by the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering
- Communicate the results of your research via journal articles, conference presentations, and meetings with project partners
- PhD degree in a relevant field
- Strong background in fatigue and damage tolerance of composite structures and materials
- Experience with adhesive bonding and fatigue testing
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- English proficiency
