The System Engineering division is tasked with the creation of innovative products and services, alongside overseeing software and hardware development. Within this division, the experts from the Cyber Engineering team focus on safeguarding cyber security.

About Your Future Role

The sophisticated radar and combat management systems being engineered at Thales are increasingly intricate, comprising hardware and software elements that interact seamlessly. As an Information Security Solutions Architect, you will oversee all cyber-related aspects within the architecture, enabling Thales to produce dependable, secure, and economically viable solutions that fulfill client requirements.

Your responsibilities will include not only the development and upkeep of the architecture for existing products but also engaging in research to enhance our offerings' resilience against cyber threats.

As a Cybersecurity Architect, you will collaborate closely with architects from various disciplines and serve as the liaison between the cyber department and other engineering sectors. Your ability to persuade both internal and external stakeholders regarding the chosen methodologies will be crucial.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Designing and sustaining the security architecture for a product or a combination of multiple products.
  • Acting as a consultant for non-security architects.
  • Ensuring a balance between project-specific (one-off) and product-oriented (reusability) approaches.

We are in search of a new team member who:

  • Holds a completed WO or HBO degree in a technical discipline.
  • Possesses a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience.
  • Is well-versed in architectural and system engineering principles.
  • Has extensive, up-to-date knowledge in cybersecurity, ideally with several years of experience in defining cybersecurity solutions.
  • Exhibits strong analytical and conceptual abilities.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills, shows initiative, and can engage effectively with diverse individuals.
  • Is a collaborative team player who enjoys working within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Has a proficient command of the English language, both spoken and written.

Additionally, the following qualifications will be viewed favorably:

  • Possession of ISC2, ISACA, SANS, or other relevant certifications.
  • Familiarity with pertinent standards (NIST, IT-Grundschutz, ISO2700x).
  • Experience in an organization that develops complex technical products.
  • Background in defense and/or the cybersecurity sector.
  • Experience within a Naval context.
  • Understanding of accreditation processes.
  • Proficiency in the German language (oral and/or written).
