Mechanical Engineering Internship: Redesign of Optical Fiber Packaging

Introduction
We are seeking a talented Mechanical Engineering student or graduate to join our team as an intern and contribute to the redesign of our optical fiber packaging. As a member of our Opto-mechanical Competence Group, you will work closely with our experts to gather and share knowledge on opto-mechanical design principles.
Your Assignment
The goal of this internship is to investigate the transport-related fiber damage in relation to the packaging and transport conditions. You will be responsible for familiarizing yourself with existing fiber packaging and related design standards, investigating transport and packaging-related optical fiber damage, and proposing design concepts to improve the packaging.
Your Tasks
- Familiarize yourself with existing fiber packaging and related design standards.
- Investigate transport and packaging-related optical fiber damage.
- Propose design concepts to improve the packaging.
- Prepare drawings and documentation to support the design changes.
- Document and evaluate the test procedure.
- Order, build, and test the design (if time allows).
Your Profile
To be a match for this internship, you should have a strong background in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, be solution-oriented, and have experience with CAD modeling (preferably NX). You should also have good English communication skills and be able to work independently.
