Job Description:

We are currently seeking a Chief Safety Officer for Container Terminal Operations to lead our Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) efforts at our Rotterdam terminal. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive safety strategies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and fostering a proactive culture of safety across our operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement HSSE policies and procedures tailored to our container terminal operations.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with local, national, and international HSE regulations.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement in safety performance and risk mitigation.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to embed environmental sustainability practices that enhance both safety and operational efficiency.
  • Manage and mentor the HSSE team to foster a cohesive safety culture across the entire network.
  • Design and deliver tailored safety training programs to meet the unique needs of employees at our container terminals.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience (10+ years) in Health, Safety, and Environmental management, with demonstrated capability to work in container port environments.
  • Deep knowledge of HSE regulations and practical safety practices applicable to diverse operational models in the container terminal industry.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and engage with senior management to embed a safety-first culture.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to implement strategic and tactical safety solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of providing hands-on guidance and strategic support.

Salary: €120,000 - €150,000 per annum, depending on experience.
