Job Description

Due to the increasing scarcity of process water caused by climate change, the recovery of water and valuable salts from waste streams has become a pressing issue. To address this challenge, we are seeking a highly motivated PhD researcher to develop energy-efficient and cost-effective technologies for the treatment of saline streams.

Project Overview

Our research focuses on the engineering of hybrid ceramic membranes for the concentration of saline streams by electrodialysis. This project aims to combine the advantages of well-designed porous ceramic nanostructures with organic surface functional groups to develop high-performance membranes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop hybrid ceramic membranes with optimized properties for electrodialysis
  • Characterize and test the membranes using various analytical techniques
  • Collaborate with the Inorganic Membranes group and external partners to integrate the membranes into a pilot-scale electrodialysis system
  • Conduct experiments and data analysis to evaluate the membrane performance and identify areas for improvement
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field
  • Excellent experimental, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Fluency in English and willingness to collaborate with international partners
