Job Description

Due to the increasing scarcity of process water and the discharge of salt solutions containing valuable salts, there is a pressing need for more energy-efficient and cost-effective technologies to recover water and salts from waste streams.

Electrodialysis membranes offer a promising solution for the treatment of wastewater streams. To develop high-performance membranes, we aim to engineer hybrid ceramic membranes that combine the advantages of well-designed porous ceramic nanostructures with organic surface functional groups.

In this PhD project, you will work within the Inorganic Membranes group at the MESA+ Institute for Nanotechnology, part of the University of Twente. The project is part of the Odysseus program, which allows for collaborations with end-users and other researchers within the faculty of science and technology.

Your Profile
  • You have a master's degree in chemical engineering, material chemistry, or a closely related field.
  • You have a creative mindset and excellent experimental, analytical, and communication skills.
  • You are an excellent team player in an enthusiastic group of scientists and engineers.
  • You are fluent in English and able to collaborate intensively with external parties.
