About this internship

TNO is actively working on limiting the CO2e emissions of our digital infrastructure and ICT usage, enhancing its sustainability. We are looking for motivated students to join our research team and contribute to making a positive impact on the environment.

Research areas

  • The measurement of energy use of ICT services, including servers, routers, computers, and smartphones.
  • Increasing efficiency of ICT itself, optimizing services, AI algorithms, cloud usage, and software development.
  • Analysis of the impact of hardware production, shipment, installation, and teardown on climate.
  • Studying user behavior and motivations for ICT use, and how to stimulate digital sobriety.
  • Market forces and policy effects on the sustainability of the ICT sector.
