Discipline Lead Engineer Job Overview

SBM Offshore is seeking a highly skilled Discipline Lead Engineer to lead the Structural Hull team. The team is responsible for the structural engineering of new build hulls and tanker conversions of FPSO projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Structural Hull team to ensure high-quality deliverables and adherence to project timelines and budget.
  • Monitor project progress and address any issues or challenges that arise.
  • Oversee the structural design process, including design calculations, drawings, and other technical documents.
  • Review and approve design calculations, drawings, and other technical documents.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines and stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Provide technical guidance to team members and foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and classification society rules.
  • Participate in client meetings and presentations, representing the Structural Hull discipline.

Requirements

  • MSc or BSc degree in Offshore Structures/Naval Architecture with a specialization in structural analysis of floating structures.
  • Approximately 10 years of relevant experience in floating structural design, including 4 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong management and communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of the floating structure design process, from conceptual to construction phases.
  • Extensive experience and technical expertise in structural analysis of global and local hull structures.
  • Familiarity with classification society rules, such as ABS, DNV, BV, and Lloyds.
  • Experience in engineering and design of floating units in the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Knowledge of structural interfaces with related disciplines, such as mooring structure integrations, topside integrations, and other equipment integrations.
  • Preferably, experience with ABS hull software ISE/TSA and finite element software FEMAP.
