Accounting Specialist with Hybrid Flexibility

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Specialist to join our team in the Netherlands. This role offers a unique blend of hybrid flexibility, allowing you to work from home or our beautiful canal-side office in Amsterdam.

As an Accounting Specialist, you will play a vital role in the day-to-day operations of our Finance teams. You will report directly to our Financial Controller and contribute to ensuring a smooth month-end close. Your responsibilities will include processing client contracts, preparing invoices and credit notes, reconciling payments, and providing excellent service to customers.

The Tellent finance team is responsible for accounting, reporting, and financial planning across our entities. As a member of this team, you will be part of a dynamic group of specialists working in the Netherlands, France, and Poland.

This role offers a comprehensive 12-month journey, with clear milestones and opportunities for growth. During your first few months, you will focus on learning everything there is to know about Tellent, including our products, finance processes, and teams. After three months, you will take full ownership of day-to-day accounting operations and use your knowledge and experience to make the month-end process more efficient.

After one year, you will have mastered accounting operations and incorporated your own recommendations and improvements to processes. As we continue to grow, you will take ownership of financial projects and see how your work impacts our business.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Handling the billing process, including creation of contracts, invoices, and credit notes via our subscription software system
  • Reconciling customers' accounts and payments allocation
  • Ensuring customer payments are received on time
  • Serving as the first point of contact for clients in finance-related matters
  • Performing month-end journal entries and account reconciliation
  • Supporting yearly audit and preparation of financial reports
  • Identifying and implementing controls, processes, and system improvements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • At least one year of experience in accounting, preferably in an accounts receivable team
  • A very good command of the English language, verbal and written. Dutch and/or French - nice to have
  • HBO in accounting, finance, or business administration
  • General accounting knowledge
  • General knowledge of VAT topics
  • Excel/Google Sheet proficiency - the stronger the better
  • Tax knowledge is a plus
  • Netsuite experience - nice to have
