The role of the Seasoning Design Excellence Director is pivotal, acting as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) and primary global technical liaison for seasoning functionality, aimed at enhancing product performance through innovative design and efficient processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize extensive industry knowledge to offer technical guidance to Seasoning Flavorists collaborating with PepsiCo Snacks globally, ensuring a deep understanding of seasoning functionality and optimizing product performance, particularly in reduced sodium formulations where traditional ingredients may be restricted.
- Create, manage, and refine the seasoning functionality program to align with PepsiCo's standards, operating procedures, and processes.
- Establish and nurture relationships with PepsiCo's Global Functionality teams, adapting to the evolving customer culture through consistent communication and visibility.
- Focus on ingredient optimization and the qualification of alternative supplies alongside seasoning design excellence.
- Contribute to productivity enhancements.
Responsibilities
- Provide global leadership to disseminate best practices in development, address operational efficiencies, and enhance workflows for functionality.
- As the SME for functionality, ensure the IFF team is well-trained in product design and equipment procedures per PepsiCo's SOP, comprehending and acting on testing results, while staying updated on the latest training and developments.
- Maintain close interactions with customers to keep the IFF team informed about their needs and expectations, ensuring compliance across the global team.
- Clearly communicate the functionality program for PepsiCo Snacks to both regional and global teams.
- Act as a conduit between IFF facilities to share insights and experiences, continually improving seasoning functionality capabilities.
- Engage at a hands-on level as necessary, providing support and leadership to product teams to maximize success rates by developing market-ready and production-friendly products within specified criteria.
- Collaborate closely with Product Commercialization Specialists to ensure the successful scaling of new or reformulated products.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to validate alternative raw material supply qualifications for PepsiCo, revise processing methods, and streamline approaches to seasoning design or processing for optimal product performance and cost efficiency.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A degree in Food Science, Technology, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
- 5 to 10 years of experience in the industrial food, ingredient, or flavor sectors.
- A proven ability to identify and capitalize on business opportunities to achieve results.
- A creative and experimental mindset.
- An awareness of local, regional, and global trends and issues.
- The capability to work independently and think strategically in uncertain situations.
- Strong communication skills to convey a compelling vision and purpose to customers.
- A passion for the snacks category, fostering customer partnerships, and driving growth.
