Delft, Zuid-Holland, Nederland TU Delft Voltijd
Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated PhD researcher to investigate how local cultures affect perceptions of geothermal energy as part of a large European transdisciplinary research project.

The successful candidate will design a questionnaire to be distributed across different countries, analyze the data, and report on the findings in scientific publications.

Additionally, the researcher will develop a manual for stakeholders, such as energy companies, who engage with local communities, and experimentally test the effectiveness and quality of the manual using randomized controlled trials.

Requirements

Candidates must have a Master's degree in Psychology, Communication Science, Cultural Anthropology, Sociology, Public Administration, or a related field.

They should be skilled in designing surveys and experiments and have expertise in quantitative data analysis, such as SPSS or R.

Candidates with a curiosity-driven mindset and a passion for research are highly valued.

Affinity with technology is appreciated, as the researcher will be working in a tech environment.

Excellent communication skills, including speaking, writing, and listening, are essential, as well as outstanding project management skills.

Fluency in English (IELTS C1 level or higher) is required, as the researcher will be working in an English-speaking environment and will need to communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.

Conditions of Employment

Doctoral candidates will be offered a 4-year period of employment, with an initial 1.5-year contract and a progress assessment within 15 months.

Followed by an additional contract for the remaining 2.5 years, assuming satisfactory performance.

Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities, increasing from €2770 per month in the first year to €3539 in the fourth year.

As a PhD candidate, you will be enrolled in the TU Delft Graduate School, which provides an inspiring research environment with excellent supervision, academic staff, and a mentor.

The Doctoral Education Programme aims to develop your transferable, discipline-related, and research skills.
