Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled English to French Translator to join our team at the International Criminal Court. As a Translator, you will play a critical role in facilitating effective communication between English and French-speaking individuals and teams within the Court.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for translating a wide range of documents from English into French, including legal, military, medical, forensic, human rights, administrative, and financial materials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate and self-revise documents from English into French
  • Proofread and cross-read the work of colleagues
  • Contribute to terminology and reference databases
  • Perform other tasks as required

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • An advanced university degree in translation, interpretation, linguistics, law, or a related field
  • A minimum of 5 years of work experience in translation, interpretation, or linguistics, preferably in an international organization
  • Excellent eye for detail, accuracy, style, and usage
  • Sound knowledge of relevant computer software
  • Proven ability and flexibility in working to deadlines effectively under pressure
  • Ability to work effectively and constructively as part of a multidisciplinary and multicultural team
  • Ability to keep strict standards of confidentiality

Language Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Mother-tongue proficiency in French
  • High-level proficiency in English
  • Knowledge of another official language of the Court or a situation-related language, an asset
