French Translator for International Court

Work with the International Criminal Court as a highly skilled French translator. We are seeking an experienced professional to join our team and contribute to the court's mission.

About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a talented individual to work in a demanding environment. As a French translator, you will be responsible for translating and self-revising documents from English into French, covering a wide range of topics including legal, military, medical, forensic, human rights, administrative, and financial matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Translate and self-revise documents from English into French, ensuring accuracy, style, and usage
  • Proofread and cross-read the work of colleagues, maintaining high standards of quality
  • Contribute to terminology and reference databases, supporting the development of language resources
  • Perform other tasks as required, such as transcribing audio/video material in French and assisting with IT-related tasks
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • An advanced university degree in translation, interpretation, linguistics, law, or a related field
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in translation, interpretation, or linguistics, preferably in an international organization
  • Excellent eye for detail, accuracy, style, and usage
  • Sound knowledge of relevant computer software, such as Microsoft 365, Records Manager, Relativity One, CAT tools, and machine translation
  • Proven ability to work effectively under pressure with evolving tasks and priorities
  • Ability to work constructively as part of a multidisciplinary and multicultural team
  • Ability to maintain strict standards of confidentiality
  • Openness to skills development and continuous learning
Language Skills

You must have:

  • Mother-tongue proficiency in French
  • High-level proficiency in English
  • Knowledge of another official language of the Court (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, and Spanish) or another situation-related language will be considered an asset
