We are seeking a highly skilled Public Information Officer to join our team in the Hague, Netherlands. As a key member of our Operations and Advocacy Division, you will play a crucial role in promoting humanitarian issues and advocacy through visual storytelling.

About the Role

This exciting opportunity is part of the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) within the United Nations Secretariat. As a Public Information Officer, you will be responsible for producing high-quality photographs and multimedia exhibitions to publicize priority issues and major events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategies for multimedia coverage of priority issues and major events
  • Analyze current events, public opinion, and press to identify trends and opportunities for effective communication
  • Conceptualize, produce, and oversee production of film, photographic, and other special projects to promote humanitarian advocacy
  • Prepare and disseminate multimedia content for UN websites, presentations, broadcast channels, reports, and books
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must have:

  • A minimum of five years of experience in public information, journalism, international relations, or a related field
  • Experience in humanitarian operations as a photographer and proficiency in English
  • Strong knowledge of audio-visual communications approaches, tools, and methodologies
  • Excellent analytical, creative, and problem-solving skills
