About the Role

We're seeking a highly skilled Tech Lead to join our Warehouse Systems team at Picnic. As a key member of our tech team, you'll be responsible for leading the development of our software platform, which supports our manual and automated fulfilment operations.

Key responsibilities include collaborating with stakeholders from tech and business, ensuring smooth day-to-day operation, and communicating effectively with colleagues. You'll also be responsible for making pragmatic trade-offs between timeline and cost, without sacrificing quality.

What You'll Do:

  • Work with the Warehouse Systems teams to achieve our vision of a modular software platform.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on multiple business-critical projects simultaneously.
  • Ensure smooth day-to-day operation and communicate with colleagues.
  • Make trade-offs between timeline and cost.
  • Help the team plan and prioritise projects.
  • Communicate with stakeholders and provide technical mentorship.
  • Build and evaluate team members through regular development conversations.
  • Manage a sustainable support model for your product.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience in back-end development, including Java, Spring Boot, AMQP, and SQL.
  • 2+ years of experience in leading projects and/or teams.
  • Strong abstract thinking and ability to translate high-level architectures into executable plans.
  • Intrinsic need to validate ideas with others and leverage expertise.
  • Experience with large-scale, long-running refactoring projects.
  • Decision-making based on business risks and opportunities.
  • Experience with cloud-based software architecture.
  • Affinity with hardware automation.
  • Great English skills and ability to structure thoughts and express them clearly.
